Another thing that makes me happy since the beginning of this year is that Arvo comes over for lunch, scrabble and sometimes Dominos every Sunday!

I can’t believe they haven’t asked me to stop knitting in between turns. I think they have both known me for so long that they know it is good for my A.D.D. to knit while I scrabble. Maybe they also know that multi-tasking actually doesn’t make you do two things 100% but more 50% each and that they have more chances to win this way.

When I met Brian - 23 years ago this Summer - he was roommates with Arvo. So I have known Arvo for about one week less than I have known my husband. Pretty much the same time!

Arvo was so amazing in accepting to hand me over when Brian and I got married. My dad couldn’t come with my mom for our celebration because my brother had been in a very serious motorcycle accident a month before. Thankfully my sister got to come with my mom.

I love that hosting Arvo every weekend gets me to spend time cooking some meals that I love to cook. It gets me to clean the living room and the kitchen. Sometimes even the bathroom!

Last week we had a pie that I have made three or four times now since last Thanksgiving. It is from the New York Times special-recipe-for-the-holidays paper. You use two or three different greens from Kale, Spinach, mustard greens,… to chard. Cream, a ton of garlic - my favorite part -, chalottes, thyme and this week I made my own crust.

Here’s to scrabble and learning to spell better and expand my vocabulary. Zora missed our gathering this week but she has been loving to play as well.
