Le Gers and Marciac

Art

After a beautiful time in the Pyrenees - also crazy with a broken fibula for my husband - Brian and I find ourselves in the Gers, alone without a kid. Zora decided to stay with her grandparents. We leave in three weeks so I understand that she wants to spend a few more precious days with my parents.

So here we are in another beautiful part of France. Last night we went to see Roberto Fonseca playing with a Bulgarien - all female - choir. It was amazing! The opening act was: Vincent Peirani and Emile Parisien, what a great duo of saxophone and accordion. I highly recommend you check out their work.

I am bubbling up with creative ideas. Our friend Dominique - who’s house we are staying at - is an amazing interior designer for her own personal needs and she is the best host. At her house I feel at home. Since we are planning some remodeling in our house, I have been looking at all my friend and family’s houses to get ideas.

I have also been thinking about my business and weaving a new series.

On my business side I am leaning more and more towards making my art and what feels good day by day and letting go of the race to sell online and follow the social media trends and needs. I have talked about this before but it has been an important realization for me. Talking to family and friends here, in France I have also realized how much I will keep focusing on local Colorado markets. I love seeing people in person and talking about my creations. My friend Pauline also told me that the nature of my art - my woven scarves and shawls - need to be touched and felt and seen. That makes so much sense. These can be hard to buy online.

Off, I go back to gardening at Dominique’s house and then my parents’ before we leave in two weeks to come back statewise.
