Who is Melina Be?

When I think of it, my parents raised me in a very Waldorf like way. We were outside as much as possible, playing in the dirt, making mud cakes or just playing in the rain. When inside my brother and I would play with cups and pots from my parents kitchen. No need for toys. Other objects could serve dual purposes. I remember my mom making us a pharmacy later after my sister was born, my mother kept all the boxes for shampoo, perfume,… and that was my sibling’s and my pharmacy. My name was Ani Lem.

My dad was always one to make do with what we had around the house. Since he is a packrat, like I am; that’s easy- we keep everything so we have everything on hand to build or make something we need out of everything we own already. No need to buy something new!

This seems to have developed the creative bug in me.

So fast forward 20 years and I discovered Turtle Island and worked at Lambspun of Colorado, a unique yarn shop in Fort Collins. I learned everything there from weaving to felting. I re-learned knitting and crocheting and crafts that my mom taught me when I was 12.

In the last 5 years, I have created my own business where I now explore leather work, jewelry making and a combination of all the crafts that I have learned in the last 20 years.
