Life in Colorado

In the summer of 1999 I came to Colorado State University as an exchange student for one semester. I was living in France at the time and this was my first long trip abroad. I was going to spend four months in Fort Collins.

The four months turned into six as I fell in love with a Texan-Coloradoan born in California. I worked at The Indigo Rose a beautiful clothing and jewelry store in Fort Collins, tutored in French and worked at Lambspun of Colorado a magical Yarn and Fiber store in town. After working there on and off for fifteen years - living in southern Colorado and France for a couple of years here and there - I opened my own business in 2017.

With my family we have been going back and forth a little bit with living in France and in Colorado but we seem to keep coming back here. It is hard to beat the sunshine and the cozy community here!

My mom had told me before that she had always loved being a stranger, a foreigner. She is french but married a german and traveled one year to Turquie, India,… and lived in Germany quite a bit with my dad. I think I have found this to be true for myself also. “Le dépaysement” could be a good description of this feeling of loving to be somewhere unfamiliar, losing your references and barings.
