Technology Versus Art

Fun playing outside vs inside on a screen

You guessed right: I prefer to be outside making art or even inside in the evenings knitting, crocheting, weaving, sewing,…

It’s not exactly that I don’t like to be on my computer. I have a hard time making the initial step to pull it out and work on updating my website, blogging, working on my taxes, anything relating to my business that requires looking at a screen.

Once I start, I actually enjoy it and work for a few hours. It helps to work with beautiful photographs from Sunshine Lady Photography and to have the desire to updated my website for you all.

Right now I am looking for a friend or two or a business relation to spend two hours a week on the computer with. I thought that perhaps working with someone else will help motivate me to get into a regular routine. I have a few leads but if you know anyone or are the one interested - maybe you are in a similar situation as I am - let me know.

In the meantime I will keep binging, once a month and pull out my computer and work on it for five hours straight.

Other things I need to do on my laptop is email my mom who was supposed to come this Spring but will now be coming in the Fall. My grandma just spent almost six months with my parents. Now she is headed for six months or so with my aunt. My mom and aunt have been relaying each other and are getting to spend time with Mamie “a tour de role” - one after the other.

I can’t blame my mom for needing a summer to herself before she comes to visit us in Colorado. We are impatient but understanding!

So there! Technology can help bridge the gap with human contact. And even if I choose the direct and local contact with my friends, I am thankful to also have the option of calling or facetiming with my family that is at a long distance.

Here’s to a balance between screen time and face to face time!
